2 1/2 years after the initial jury verdict winning the case
against UCLA, UCLA fought hard and spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to get the verdict overturned. UCLA filed
a motion with the California Court of Appeals in late 2004 (about 2 months after my successful jury verdict). I
had to hire another lawyer who specialized in appeals. Fortunately he took the case on contingency.
After filing briefs and answers to motions for nearly 2
years, the oral arguments were made to a 3 person appellate panel in Los Angeles in August of 2006. The court took 3
months to render its decision which was to uphold the entire original verdict. This occurred in December of 2006.
Merry Christmas to me.
UCLA wouldn't give up their harrassment, though. They filed a motion asking the
California Supreme Court to hear the case. Only 5% of cases which are petitioned to the court are heard. Fortunately,
mine was like the majority of cases and the California Supreme Court denied their motion. They refused to hear the case.
So, the appellate decisiowas the final word.
I beat UCLA. Yes, against all odds, I took on the "system"..., the "old boys
club" and won. It took nearly 5 years from my first complaint until February of 200after all appeals were exhauted and
UCLA had to fork over the judgement.
The amazing thing is that UCLA and their attorneys still refer to my case as "a fluke".
They refer to it as a case that should never have been won. I caught them in their lies and manipulation and a jury
agreed. Don't let your guard down. This behavior continues at UCLA and at other companies and institutions all
over the United States.
